On 8th of August, Prof. Thomas Wick (IfAM) will continue the lecture about function spaces. The topics will include mixed systems and saddle-point problems as well as functional frameworks for variational inequalities.
In this block class, we introduce the mathematical concept of function spaces. We start with rigorous mathematical definitions and many examples. Furthermore, the usage of function spaces to formulate well-posedness of problem statements, and in convergence results in numerical analysis and computational analysis will be discussed. Counter examples illustrate why thinking about the correct design of function spaces has practical consequences in numerical simulations in applied mathematics and engineering.
